Terms and Conditions

MOONDARRA CRUISES

Booking Terms & Conditions

Effective Date: August 2026

These Booking Terms & Conditions apply to experiences, cruises, tours, transfers, charters and packages operated or sold by Moondarra Cruises.

By making a booking with Moondarra Cruises, the person making the booking acknowledges that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions on behalf of themselves and all persons included in the booking.

1. BOOKINGS & PAYMENT

Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed in writing by Moondarra Cruises.

A booking is not confirmed until payment has been received, and a booking confirmation has been issued.

Prices are quoted in Australian dollars and include GST where applicable.

The person making the booking is responsible for ensuring that all information supplied is accurate, including passenger numbers, passenger details, contact information and any accessibility, mobility, dietary or special requirements.

2. CANCELLATIONS BY GUESTS

We understand that travel plans can change.

For standard individual cruise and experience bookings:

  • Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the scheduled departure time may be transferred to another available date or refunded.
  • Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled departure time are non-refundable.
  • No refunds will be provided for no-shows or passengers who arrive too late to participate in their booked experience.
  • Requests to change a booking to another date must be made at least 24 hours before departure and are subject to availability.

Additional cancellation conditions may apply to private charters, groups, schools, tour operators, travel trade bookings, special events and packages. Any additional conditions will be advised at the time of booking or quotation.

3. CANCELLATION BY MOONDARRA CRUISES

The safety of our passengers and crew is our priority.

Moondarra Cruises reserves the right to cancel, postpone, reschedule or modify an experience where necessary due to circumstances including:

  • unsafe weather conditions;
  • storms, lightning, strong winds or other environmental conditions;
  • water levels or conditions on Lake Moondarra;
  • vessel safety or mechanical issues;
  • operational requirements;
  • road closures or access restrictions;
  • emergency situations;
  • directions from relevant authorities; or
  • other circumstances outside our reasonable control.

If Moondarra Cruises cancels an experience and cannot provide a suitable alternative, guests will be offered the option of transferring their booking to another available date or receiving a refund for the experience cancelled by Moondarra Cruises.

Moondarra Cruises is not responsible for additional travel, accommodation or other expenses incurred by guests as a result of a cancellation or schedule change, except where required by Australian Consumer Law.

4. WEATHER CONDITIONS

Lake Moondarra is an outdoor environment, and weather conditions can change quickly.

Cruises may operate in varying weather conditions. Rain, cloud cover, temperature changes or the absence of a visible sunset DO NOT automatically constitute grounds for cancellation or refund.

The Master of the vessel and Moondarra Cruises have the final authority to determine whether conditions are safe for the cruise to operate.

If conditions are considered unsafe, the cruise may be delayed, altered, rescheduled or cancelled.

No guarantee can be made regarding sunsets, wildlife sightings, water conditions or other natural features of the experience.

5. CHANGES TO CRUISES & ITINERARIES

All advertised cruise durations, departure times, routes, inclusions and itineraries are indicative and may be changed where operational, environmental or safety considerations require.

Moondarra Cruises will make reasonable efforts to provide the experience as advertised.

However, the Master may alter the vessel's course, cruising area, speed, departure or return time whenever necessary for passenger safety, vessel safety, weather conditions or operational requirements.

Where possible, we will provide a reasonable alternative.

6. DEPARTURE TIMES & LATE ARRIVALS

Guests must arrive at the nominated departure or pick-up location at the time specified in their booking confirmation.

Passengers should allow sufficient time for check-in and boarding.

The vessel cannot necessarily be held for late passengers.

Guests who miss their departure because they arrive late will be treated as a no-show and will not normally be entitled to a refund or transfer.

7. PASSENGER SAFETY

Passengers must comply with all reasonable directions given by the vessel Master, crew or authorised Moondarra Cruises staff.

This includes instructions relating to:

  • boarding and disembarking;
  • passenger seating;
  • movement around the vessel;
  • emergency procedures;
  • lifejackets and safety equipment;
  • passenger behaviour;
  • alcohol consumption; and
  • any other matter relating to the safe operation of the vessel.

The Master has overriding authority for the safety of the vessel, passengers and crew.

Passengers must remain within designated passenger areas and must not interfere with the operation of the vessel or safety equipment.

8. HEALTH, MOBILITY & ACCESSIBILITY

Guests are responsible for determining whether an experience is suitable for their individual circumstances.

Any medical condition, disability, mobility restriction or other requirement that could affect a passenger's ability to safely board, travel aboard or disembark the vessel should be disclosed to Moondarra Cruises when making the booking.

We encourage guests with accessibility or mobility requirements to contact us before booking so that we can discuss their needs and determine how we may reasonably assist.

While we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate guests, the physical configuration of the vessel, jetty, shoreline or transfer vehicles may limit accessibility in some circumstances.

Passengers must be able to follow emergency instructions given by the crew.

9. CHILDREN & INFANTS

Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Parents and guardians are responsible for the behaviour and safety of children in their care and must ensure children comply with all instructions issued by the crew.

Children must not climb on vessel railings, move into restricted areas or interfere with vessel or safety equipment.

Any specific requirements applying to infants or young children will be advised at the time of booking.

10. ALCOHOL & INTOXICATION

Responsible consumption of alcohol is required at all times.

Moondarra Cruises reserves the right to refuse boarding to or remove from an experience where it is safe and lawful to do so, any person who appears intoxicated, is behaving aggressively or is considered a risk to themselves, other passengers, crew or the vessel.

A person refused participation because of intoxication or inappropriate behaviour will not be entitled to a refund.

Guests must comply with any alcohol conditions advised for their particular cruise or event.

11. PASSENGER BEHAVIOUR

Moondarra Cruises aims to provide a safe, relaxed and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Abusive, threatening, dangerous, discriminatory or disruptive behaviour towards passengers, staff or crew will not be tolerated.

Passengers must not deliberately damage the vessel, vehicles, facilities or equipment.

Moondarra Cruises reserves the right to refuse participation or remove a passenger from an experience where their behaviour compromises safety or significantly interferes with the enjoyment of others.

No refund will be provided where a guest is refused participation or removed because of their behaviour.

12. FOOD, DIETARY REQUIREMENTS & ALLERGIES

Where food or catering is included in an experience, guests must advise Moondarra Cruises of dietary requirements and food allergies when making their booking.

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate dietary requirements where possible but cannot guarantee that every request can be accommodated.

Food may be prepared in environments where common allergens are present. Guests with serious allergies should contact us before booking to discuss their requirements.

13. PERSONAL BELONGINGS

Passengers are responsible for their own personal belongings.

Moondarra Cruises accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal property except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

Passengers should take particular care with phones, cameras, sunglasses and other loose items while boarding, disembarking and travelling aboard the vessel.

14. WILDLIFE & NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Lake Moondarra is a natural environment.

Wildlife sightings are unpredictable and cannot be guaranteed.

Guests must not feed, disturb, capture or interfere with wildlife unless specifically instructed as part of an authorised activity.

Passengers are asked to respect Lake Moondarra and help us protect the environment by disposing of rubbish appropriately and following crew directions.

15. PHOTOGRAPHY & MEDIA

Photography for personal use is welcome unless otherwise advised.

Moondarra Cruises may occasionally photograph or record experiences for promotional, tourism or marketing purposes.

If you do not wish to appear in photographs or video taken by Moondarra Cruises, please advise a staff member or crew member.

Commercial photography, filming or drone operations require prior written approval from Moondarra Cruises and must comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

16. TRANSFERS

Where coach or vehicle transfers are included or purchased as part of an experience, guests must be ready at the nominated collection point at the advised time.

Transfer times may vary depending on passenger numbers, accommodation locations, traffic, road conditions and operational requirements.

Moondarra Cruises cannot guarantee that a transfer vehicle will wait for passengers who are not ready at the nominated collection time.

17. PRIVATE CHARTERS, GROUPS & SCHOOL BOOKINGS

Separate booking, deposit and cancellation conditions may apply to:

  • private vessel charters;
  • school excursions;
  • corporate functions;
  • weddings and special events;
  • coach groups;
  • tour groups;
  • travel trade bookings; and
  • large group reservations.

These conditions will be outlined in the applicable quotation or booking confirmation.

Final passenger numbers may be required by a specified date.

Where catering is provided, dietary and allergy information must be supplied within the timeframe advised by Moondarra Cruises.

18. THIRD-PARTY EXPERIENCES & BOOKING SERVICES

Moondarra Cruises may act as a booking agent or reseller for experiences, accommodation, attractions, transport or services provided by independent third-party operators.

Where Moondarra Cruises sells an experience operated by another provider, that provider's own terms, conditions, cancellation policies and operating requirements may also apply.

Moondarra Cruises does not control the operation of independent suppliers.

Any fees or conditions imposed by a third-party supplier in relation to changes or cancellations may be passed on to the guest.

Where Moondarra Cruises acts solely as a booking agent, responsibility for delivering the booked experience remains with the relevant experience provider, subject to applicable Australian Consumer Law.

19. TRAVEL INSURANCE

Guests travelling to Mount Isa or incorporating a Moondarra Cruises experience into a wider itinerary are encouraged to consider appropriate travel insurance.

Travel insurance may assist with unexpected circumstances including illness, travel disruption, missed connections, lost property and cancellations outside the refund conditions contained in these Terms & Conditions.

20. LIABILITY & ASSUMPTION OF RISK

Participation in boating, touring and outdoor experiences involves inherent risks.

Guests acknowledge that experiences may involve natural environments, changing weather conditions, movement of the vessel, boarding and disembarking, wildlife and other risks associated with outdoor and marine activities.

Passengers are responsible for following all safety instructions provided by Moondarra Cruises.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable legislation.

To the extent permitted by law, Moondarra Cruises is not responsible for loss, damage, delay or additional expense caused by circumstances outside its reasonable control.

21. FORCE MAJEURE & EVENTS OUTSIDE OUR CONTROL

Moondarra Cruises will not be responsible for failure to provide or complete an experience where this is caused by events outside our reasonable control.

Such events may include severe weather, flooding, bushfire, natural disasters, public health emergencies, government restrictions, road closures, infrastructure failures, industrial action or other significant events affecting safe or lawful operations.

Where reasonably possible, Moondarra Cruises will work with affected guests to reschedule, provide an alternative or otherwise manage the booking fairly, subject to applicable law.

22. PRICING

Prices may change without notice.

Once a booking has been confirmed and paid in full, the confirmed price will generally be honoured unless an obvious pricing or booking-system error has occurred or a change is required by law.

Special offers, promotional codes and discounted rates may have additional terms and may not be used in conjunction with other offers unless expressly stated.

23. GIFT VOUCHERS & PROMOTIONAL OFFERS

Gift vouchers, promotional vouchers and special offers are subject to any additional conditions stated at the time of purchase.

Bookings using vouchers remain subject to availability.

Vouchers cannot be redeemed for cash except where required by law.

Any expiry dates or conditions applying to a voucher will be stated on the voucher or at the time of purchase and will comply with applicable Australian consumer law.

24. PRIVACY

Moondarra Cruises collects personal information necessary to manage bookings, communicate with guests, provide experiences and meet operational and legal requirements.

Personal information will be handled in accordance with applicable Australian privacy requirements.

Information may be provided to service providers or experience partners where reasonably necessary to fulfil a booking.

Payment information processed through third-party booking or payment systems is also subject to the privacy and security practices of those providers.

25. COMPLAINTS & FEEDBACK

We want guests to enjoy their Moondarra Cruises experience.

If you have a concern during your experience, please raise it with a crew member or Moondarra Cruises representative as soon as possible so that we have an opportunity to address the matter.

If the issue cannot be resolved at the time, please contact Moondarra Cruises following your experience with your booking details and a description of your concern.

26. AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW

Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits any rights or remedies available to a consumer where doing so would be unlawful.

Where there is any inconsistency between these Terms & Conditions and a mandatory requirement of Australian Consumer Law, the mandatory legal requirement will prevail.

27. ACCEPTANCE OF TERMS

By making a booking, purchasing a ticket, voucher or experience, or participating in a Moondarra Cruises experience, guests acknowledge that they have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

The person making a booking on behalf of other passengers is responsible for making these Terms & Conditions available to all passengers included in the booking.
